We shall
actively work to ensure the best possible
safety, health and environment of our
employees and our society.
Caring about safety, health and
the environment shall constitute a
natural part of our business, and it is
the responsibility of each of us to
contribute to continuous improvements in
this area.
Perstorp Flooring has also been
recognized by the American Lung
Association. Pergo was installed in the
ALA's Health House, which is a model home
built to feature environmentally friendly
products and technologies for a healthier
home.
Pergo has also been the
recipient of the prestigious Consumer
Digest "Best Buy Award".
Our environmental policy is
always to stay ahead of legislation. This
forward-thinking approach has led to our
becoming the first flooring manufacturer
to be awarded Europe's Nordic Swan
environmental label. This makes Pergo the
world's first eco-labeled
floor.
Production methods
Our flooring is made almost entirely of
renewable materials. All production of Pergo
materials is done in a highly
resource-efficient manner, with an emphasis on
reducing environmental impact.
Pergo is now made in America as
well as in Sweden, in two of the world's
most advanced flooring factories. We
manufacture with renewable raw materials
and resource-efficient methods - for
example, we use the milling operation's
waste wood as fuel. By using an extra
thin circular saw blade, we have reduced
sawdust waste by 40%. All waste is
collected and turned into fuel in a
boiler. By using this process, our heat
generation system is completely
self-contained.
We also focus on the entire
product life cycle, continually upgrading
our technology, production and
distribution systems. Our environmental
plan is based on identifying weak links
in the chain - finding ways, for example,
to minimize packaging, to save resources
in transportation or to recycle our used
products.
